About Us
The Caribbean Asylum and Refugee Law Initiative (CaribbeanARLI) is a pioneering initiative dedicated to advancing the development of asylum and refugee law across the Caribbean. Based in Trinidad and Tobago, a key regional hub in the southern Caribbean, CaribbeanARLI was established in response to the urgent need for rights-based advocacy and legal reform for asylum seekers and refugees in the region.

In a part of the world where asylum and refugee law remains critically underdeveloped, CaribbeanARLI exists to fill the gap. The Initiative was born from the recognition that jurisprudential advancement, public awareness, and strategic legal intervention are essential to ensuring protection within our societies.

CaribbeanARLI operates across three core pillars:

Legal Consultancy
We assist individuals in Trinidad and the wider Caribbean who are seeking clarity on their immigration status, need assistance with local immigration procedures, or are considering seeking asylum abroad.

Policy Advisory
Providing tailored services to individuals, non-profit organisations, and government agencies, CaribbeanARLI delivers legal consultation, policy guidance, and capacity-building initiatives on matters of immigration, asylum, and refugee protection.

Legal Outsourcing Services
Through strategic partnerships with legal practitioners and institutions across the globe, CaribbeanARLI supports asylum and refugee matters in various jurisdictions including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and beyond.
