Legal Outsourcing

The outsourcing of legal work relating to the practice of asylum and refugee law is a cornerstone of our operations at the Caribbean Asylum and Refugee Law Initiative.

We have assisted, and continue to assist law firms and legal practitioners in Canada, the USA, Australia, and the UK on the efficiency handling and preparation of asylum claims.

We take the burden of drafting legal submissions, conducting legal research, conducting country-of-origin research, completing immigration forms, and drafting legal opinions away from the lawyer, so that they can focus on other aspects of their practice.

How Legal Outsourcing Works

Stage 1

Step 1

The legal practitioner intakes a client who wishes to seek asylum and captures the information, documentation, and instructions.

Stage 2

Step 2

The information collected is sent to us, we conduct research, and prepare the immigration forms and legal submissions.

Stage 3

Step 3

The prepared legal work is completed and sent back to the legal practitioner, who then files on behalf of the asylum seeker.

Stage 4

Step 4

The case of the asylum seeker is processed by the relevant immigration authorities.

Our Work

Canada Portfolio

We are in collaboration with law firms and legal practitioners across Canada, particularly in Toronto, the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), and the province of Manitoba. The focus of this work involved providing legal research, drafting, and case support in a wide range of refugee protection matters under the Canadian immigration and asylum framework.

Support was provided in asylum applications involving over 65 nationalities, including claims based on political persecution, gender-based violence, gang violence, sexual orientation, and religious persecution. The portfolio also includes assistance on highly complex legal matters, including exclusion cases under Article 1F of the Refugee Convention, credibility challenges, and post-hearing submissions before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

UK Portfolio

We have an ongoing collaboration with independent solicitors across the United Kingdom, with a focus on providing legal and research support in refugee protection matters. Work has been concentrated in regions with high volumes of asylum claims, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, and Glasgow.

Support has been provided in a range of matters before the Home Office and the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber), involving claims based on political opinion, religious persecution, gender-based violence, trafficking, and sexual orientation.

USA Portfolio

We have an ongoing collaboration with immigration attorneys and legal practitioners across the United States, including New York, Florida, Texas, Arizona, and California - states with some of the highest volumes of asylum claims and diverse legal landscapes.

The work involved supporting asylum applications before USCIS and the Immigration Courts, including both affirmative and defensive asylum claims.

Contributions were made in matters involving complex fact patterns, evolving country conditions, and legal arguments under asylum, withholding of removal, and protection under the Convention Against Torture.

Particular attention was given to exclusion issues, credibility assessments, gang-based and gender-based violence claims, and asylum claims involving LGBTQ+ individuals and political dissidents.

Australia Portfolio

We are in collaboration with non-profit organizationsand humanitarian agencies in Sydney and Victoria, aimed at supporting individuals seeking asylum who are unable to access or access private legal representation.

Assistance is provided to frontline organisations engaged in refugee protection, particularly those supporting vulnerable claimants before the Department of Home Affairs.

Data Protection, Confidentiality & Ethics

All outsourced legal support is carried out with the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical integrity. Strict data protection protocols are in place to ensure that all client information, case materials, and sensitive data are handled securely and in compliance with applicable laws and professional obligations.

Confidentiality is central to every engagement. All work is conducted under strict non-disclosure practices. Care is taken to uphold trust, privacy, and the dignity of all persons involved.

Ethical standards are paramount. All services are provided in line with legal ethics, professional responsibility, and human rights principles. The goal is to support legal practitioners and organizations with integrity, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to the rule of law.
